When I first started to read the “Production Code” I couldn’t help but think what movies would be like if the code was the way it was. I don’t think that “Blockbusters” would really even exist. Back when the code began, people were not aware of what was happening in the world in a visual cense. They read the paper and that was about it. Then came television. It brought the world to the family room, and with that the realization of what is going on. Movies were clean and well rounded, but not true. People might not like what they saw on news on television, but they also could not help but be drawn to it. As the times changed the directors had more vision and with technology more visual effects. Movies have definitely come a long way and having any type of code would just limit the potential of some great directors.
Reading Chapter One in the book I was not aware how far cinema has come, all the way from the silent era to the present multi million dollar movies. I was not aware how much effect that television had on the box office. It does make cense it is easier to turn a knob then it is to go to the theater. Even though there is a lot of different things that made the cinema the way it is, and with all the technology to bring the movie experience to the home. There is nothing quite like seeing a film on the big screen.
Even though I have seen “Easy Rider” about 10 times it was still a thrill to see it again. To a lot of people that movie changed thier lives. Even though I was not even born when the movie was made I do realize that there was a lot of confusion in the country at that time. With the Vietnam War, peace and love, freedom of speech and drugs the young people of that time were confused. Dennis Hopper did an awesome job of showing this. With the raw, dry footage and the separation of beliefs, he brought a very real feeling of the times to the big screen.

Why on earth would you watch this movie 10 times?? I thought that this was one of the worst movies that I have ever seen.

Robb,
I guess that we are going to have to agree to disagree on this one. When you were watching the movie did notice the glitches? Since you saw this movie ten times I am going to assume that you have. Can you explain the reasoning behind this? I think that it was to make the audience trip out. It was pretty obvious that a lot of young people were experimenting with drugs at this time. I think that Dennis Hopper saw this as a money-making opportunity. Which I think was great for him.
