In this weeks readings I enjoyed reading about Sequels and Remakes. I have always enjoyed the fact that directors are willing to keep the story going. It is true that not all the sequels are that great, but for me I like the idea that the movie doesn’t end after a few hours. Take Indiana Jones for instance. Steven Spielberg directed Raiders of the Lost Ark, which was a fantastic movie. Then came along Joe Blow or whomever and made Temple of Doom, which did keep the story of Indy going was a flop. Then Spielberg took over the reins and made The Last Crusade, which ended the trilogy on the highest note of all. Sequels can be very effective and enjoyable if directed right.

The movie that I watched was AVP- Alien vs. Predator. This movie was pretty good if you think of the others before it. Basically Alien and Aliens, and Predator. In the Aliens movie we realize that the alien is a breeding killing force that is a true adversary. In Predator we see that the Predator is kind of on safari and is looking for the best hunt. So the idea for AVP was strong, but I think it lacked creativity. They could have made the story a little more solid. I did like how the girl at the end took the side of the Predator knowing the story of the two, and the Predator looking at her as an allied hunter.
